Intuitive Massage is both therapeutic and relaxing style of bodywork. Its foundation is Swedish Massage, with elements of other modalities such as Reflexology and Trigger Point therapy, as needed. The proven and experienced benefits of massage include relaxation, pain relief, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.
Receiving massage affords you the opportunity to spend a quiet hour "undoing;" which can be in itself a restorative experience.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying specific kinds of pressure to zones on your feet and hands. Its aim is to harmonize the entire system, allowing the wisdom of the body to operate. Ongoing research indicates Reflexology can be effective for a variety of conditions including insomnia, digestive discomfort, and overall stress reduction.
I am Certified in Pre-Natal Massage Therapy by MotherTouch Massage Therapy. Pregnancy massage supports and nurtures the pregnant woman as she experiences the miraculous and profound changes of carrying a new life. Using techniques specially developed for the expectant mother, Pregnancy Massage helps relieve discomforts that may be experienced during pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing, and deep relaxation.
Thai Foot Reflexology
Thai Foot Reflexology is a luxurious, formalized sequence of various strokes and pointwork applied from tips of the feet to tops of the knees. Affecting all the body's sen lines (similar to Chinese meridians) Thai Reflexology produces a deep feeling of relaxation, balance, and well-being. Some enjoy Thai Reflexology's convenience, because it is done with the client fully clothed. Bring or wear comfortable pants that can be easily rolled up for access above the knee.
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension at the workplace. It is done in a specialized ergonomically-designed chair, which I supply. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, chair massage is done with the client fully clothed. Chair Massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient to fit into your busy workday.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is one possible technique I use within the context of a general massage, and not a type of massage in itself. It is a way of stimulating and releasing painful "trigger points" some of us develop that often result in pain over a more generalized area. Trigger points are sensitive little "knots" found in the belly of muscles that some of us develop over time due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress as part of a "holding pattern". I directly apply focused pressure to de-activate the points during a session. Over time the cumulative effect of trigger-point therapy can be profoundly transformative.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body, and can be a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. As with trigger point therapy, I use this technique as needed in the context of general sessions.
